How to wash your Steel

We often get asked how to wash our steel.

If the last thing you cooked on your steel was extra greasy or you spilled some cheese off your pizza or did some jam boil over, it may be time to wash your steel.

For the most part, I just wipe my steel with a dry cloth between uses, but if it’s overly greasy or sticky, you’ll likely want to wash it. You want to wash your steel in soap and water, just like any other pan.

The most important part of the process is making sure to DRY it thoroughly after, and wipe it with a thin layer of *OIL*. This will seal it and prevent any rusting.

Finally, you will want to bake it at 500 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour to ensure the oil gets set into the steel.

That's it! Your steel is ready for use again!
