Q. WHY IS STEEL BETTER THAN STONE?
A. Steel is extremely efficient at conducting heat in comparison to a stone, 18x more conductive, meaning it transfers heat faster from its surface to the item being baked.
Heat retention is way better with steel, so every time you open the oven the steel won’t cool down like a stone, this also aids in faster baking
A steel will cook a pizza 30 percent faster than a baking stone, and the faster a pizza cooks the crispier its bottom will be.
Steel will not shatter or crack like stone, you will have your steel for a lifetime!
Q. HOW DO I ENSURE MY STEEL WILL LAST A LIFETIME?
A. Care is similar to cast iron. You need to season it before use. If you let water sit on it without drying, it will rust. So make sure to dry thoroughly and re-oil.
Seasoning: wipe the steel’s entire surface with a light layer of your choice of vegetable oil. Bake in your preheated oven at 400 degrees for 60 minutes (video of this procedure can be found in "steel care")
If you steel rusts, do not panic! It is not ruined. Simply use an abrasive pad (SOS pad, sand paper or steel wool) to remove the rust. Once removed, re-season it.
Q. WHAT CAN I DO WITH MY STEEL?
A. Can be used in the oven, on the BBQ or smoker, as a griddle on your stovetop, on a fire pit, etc
Use for pizzas, artisan breads, steak, burgers, fries, bacon & eggs, pancakes, etc! The sky is the limit!
Q.WHY IS IT SO HEAVY?
A. It’s 100% solid steel. You want it to be solid so that it retains the most heat possible!
*NOTE: You can leave the steel in your oven, you don’t need to move it in and out all the time. If you’re going to bake something else in your oven, life muffins in a muffin tin for example, you can place the muffin tin right on top of the steel. It actually aids in a more even bake.

A. Most steels will be shipped out in 1-3 business days but please allow for up to 10 days.
